Brainspotting (BSP) Trauma

Brainspotting (BSP) is a powerfubrain and body based therapeutic technique which accesses the part of the brain where strong emotions are tied with your difficult experiences.

Unlike day to day experiences, memories that are attached to high levels of emotions, especially those attached to disturbing emotions such as sadness, anger, anxiety, or fear are stored deeper in your mid-brain, in the Limbic system.

BSP utilizes the direct connection between the eyes and the mid-brain. Together, you and I will find an eye position which correlates to both the body experience and the topic which is connected to your emotional response.

What is a body experience? This is your body's natural reaction to an event, thought, or idea. It's the knot in your stomach when you're nervous, the closed feeling of your throat when you're too emotional to speak. It's even the gushy warm feeling when you are in your most relaxed and calm place.

What is an eye position? Where you look affects how you feel. I will ask you to look left or right, up or down, while attuned to your natural reflexes to help determine a specific eye position that corresponds to your brain's "memory file" for the given topic.

Then what happens? Your body and brain go work processing the stuck emotion/experience, developing new neural pathways which move the event from the emotion charged mid-brain into the neo-cortex, where your standard, non-emotionally reactive memories are stored, releasing you from distress.
